The MacGregor & District Chamber of Commerce took a fresh start in November 2019, with a new board, monthly meetings, and project subcommittees. A website, Facebook page, e-mail, and newsletters were also introduced to increase communication with members and local residents.

For local economic development, the Chamber initiated the following:

  • A presentation with Penny Schoonbaert of Community Futures Heartland to discuss the organization’s business development and start-up assistance programs, and the benefits of an economic development officer. The presentation was followed up with a joint meeting with the Municipality of North Norfolk and the Austin Chamber of Commerce

  • Purchase of a mobile advertising sign to be placed on Simplot Road near Portage la Prairie. Thank you Four Way Motors + MacGregor Metals for your donations to this project!

  • Shop local campaigns, homegrown business highlights, and COVID-19 economic recovery correspondence

The board also participated in the following community events:

  • Candy after the Santa Claus Parade and a prize for the best float

  • Prizes for the MacGregor Fair’s Walk / Drive-Thru Parade

  • Flyers and maps for Garage Sale Day

In 2021 the MacGregor Chamber of Commerce will continue to meet the second Monday of each month (virtually if required).
