Hampton Developments Ltd - MacGregor Homegrown Business
When I first moved to MacGregor a few years back, I was moving into a new position, in a new town that I had only visited a handful of times before, with my wife and new one-month-old daughter in tow. To say there were many uncertainties mixed into our excitement to be coming to MacGregor would an understatement! Thankfully, quality housing was not one of those uncertainties.
For this week’s MacGregor Homegrown Business highlight, I had the opportunity to talk to Don Butterfield of Hampton Developments Ltd. From experience, I can say Don is the landlord you want to have, and so I was happy to have this opportunity to talk to him about his company.
Tell me when did Hampton Developments Ltd. begin? What does it all do?
Marion (my wife) and I began Hampton Developments LTD in July of 2011, the year we were incorporated. Back then, we started out as a holding company of rental properties that we were working hard to redevelop and sell.
From that point, through hard work, we have grown to where now we currently hold three new duplexes that we own and lease out, as well as several other residential and commercial properties in MacGregor, Austin as well as Carberry.
While we love MacGregor, much of our expansion had to take place in other nearby communities, due to a lack of building opportunities here in town.
What Does Hampton Developments Ltd. all give back to MacGregor? Also, what do you think Hampton Developments adds to the town?
Even before we started Hampton Developments, Marion and I strongly believed in the importance of giving back to the community through hard work and volunteering. Currently, I am the President of NorMac Handi Transit Inc., the handi transit service that covers all of North Norfolk. Marion is very involved as well, being a dedicated lifetime member of the MacGregor Kinette Club as well as a board member of the MacGregor United Church. We also are involved in a number of other local community organizations, as well, but these are the main ones.
Probably the biggest way we contribute to the health of the community, though, would be through our residential rental business. MacGregor is a great town but has few places to live. Hampton Developments is one of the biggest residential renters in town, and so a number of people [editor’s note: again, including my family until recently, for which I am very grateful] would never have known how great it is to live here if those rentals weren’t available.
How has Covid impacted your organization?
Thankfully, as rentals are an essential service, Covid-19 has not impacted our organization much.
Hampton Developments is the largest provider of rental apartments, houses, and commercial spaces in MacGregor. In a variety of price ranges, if you need a place to call home, Hampton Developments is the company to call.
